Onward chooses Alzheimer’s Society as charity partner
We’ve chosen Dementia Action Week (21-27 May) to officially unveil the Alzheimer’s Society as our new charity partner for 2018.
The Alzheimer’s Society has been specially selected by Onward employees, who will be taking part in a number of fundraising activities throughout the year.
The process of choosing our charity partner began last year, when staff were invited to nominate a charity that was close to their hearts. These charities were then whittled down to a shortlist of five and put to an all-employee vote.
With over 850,000 people in the UK currently living with dementia, we’re pledging our support to raise awareness of the fantastic work the Alzheimer’s Society does.
Rosie Longden, wellbeing manager at Onward, said: “We received nominations for some truly inspirational charities, and hundreds of our colleagues took part in the voting process.
“We’re delighted to have chosen the Alzheimer’s Society. They’re a fantastic charity doing incredible work for those living with the disease, and we’re really looking forward to an exciting and productive partnership.
“Many of our customers, particularly in our sheltered schemes, are living with Alzheimer’s, so this is a subject that is already close to our heart.”
Fundraising efforts have already begun, with staff from Onward’s offices across the North West taking part in a mile walk for Alzheimer’s this week.
We’re also supporting Dementia Action Week, hosting a number of events across the organisation to help Onward staff learn more about dementia and the support services available.
